Brunchin' in Boulder

Personally, my favorite meal to go out to eat is brunch. And let me tell you, Boulder does not disappoint. Boulder has numerous quality breakfast places that are guaranteed to hit the spot. Here is a rundown of my top breakfast spots along with some menu favorites:

Le Peep:

Le Peep is a cute and casual breakfast and lunch spot that has really fast and friendly service— and happy hour is all day!

What I like to get:

Jack Benny – a parmesan crusted English muffin topped with shaved ham, arugula, tomato, mozzarella, two poached eggs, and homemade hollandaise.

Bloody Mary – a good sized, delicious bloody, for only $2.99! (Or get a mimosa!)

If you’ve got a sweet tooth, check out the Cinnamonster! It’s exactly what the name says, a monster warm and gooey cinnamon bun!

Doug’s Day Diner:

Doug’s offers hearty Tex-Mex food that is made fresh daily in house. If you’re looking for a killer breakfast burrito the size of your head—this is the place to be.

What I like to get:

Breakfast Quesadilla — flour tortilla with egg, 3 cheese, bell pepper, fresh green chile, sour cream, pico de gallo, and guacamole with choice of carne asada, adovada, house sausage, bacon, turkey green chile sausage, chorizo, ham, or veggie.

Skinny Papas — pile of hash browns, cheese, red or green chile or gravy, topped with two eggs plus sautéed mushrooms, onions, bell pepper, spinach, and diced tomatoes.

I highly suggest the breakfast burrito with your choice of meat or veggies—if you think you can handle it!!

Walnut Cafe:

Walnut Cafe has an artsy and homey feel complimented by large portions and a super friendly staff. Walnut Cafe is also very involved in philanthropy, so you can eat well and feel good about it.

What I like to get:

Huevos Rancheros — 2 eggs or tofu, refried or black beans, melted cheddar, salsa, lettuce, tomato, sour cream, and black olives

Pesto Quesadilla — 2 scrambled eggs, bacon, pesto, red onions, mushrooms, and mozzarella, served with lettuce, tomato, and special salsa.

Quiche of the day — ¼ of a quiche pie made fresh daily.

Thick Belgian Waffle with fresh fruit

Snooze:

Snooze has a fun and retro style with very creative menu and drink items. Given that Boulder is always busy for breakfast and brunch on the weekends, I love that at Snooze you can put your name on the waitlist through their mobile app before you even get there.

What I like to get:

Smashed Avocado Benny — signature English muffin topped with fresh smashed avocado, Parmesan cheese, ripened tomatoes, two poached cage-free eggs, smoked cheddar hollandaise, and everything spice.

Bella! Bella! Benny — thin slices of prosciutto, Taleggio cheese, and poached cage-free eggs on toasted ciabatta, topped with cream cheese hollandaise, balsamic glaze, and arugula.

Make sure to check out the Pancake of the Day for a deliciously unique flavor!

The Buff:

The Buff is arguably the most popular breakfast spot in Boulder. You can expect at least a 45 minute to an hour wait Friday through Sunday—so let that speak for itself!

What I like to get:

Corn Beef Hash Homestead Skillet — homemade with red onions, tri-colored peppers, mixed with potatoes, topped with 2 eggs.

Saddlebags — pancakes filled with either diced bacon or sliced sausage, topped with two eggs.

Iced Coffee — served in a giant 32 oz mason jar

Bloody Mary, Mimosa, or Tequila Sunrise — only 99¢!

Lucile’s Creole Cafe:

Lucile’s offers authentic tasting Cajun & Creole dishes and a real New Orleans feel, as the restaurant resides in a small Victorian house with accurate décor and ambiance. If you’re looking for a new flavor or for a taste of NOLA in Boulder, definitely check out Lucile’s!

What I like to get:

Beignets — homemade New Orleans style donuts, served hot.

Eggs Sardou — creamed spinach, Gulf shrimp, poached eggs, and hollandaise, with grits or potatoes and a buttermilk biscuit.

Pain Perdu — New Orleans style French toast, with fresh fruit, one egg, hot Louisiana sausage and buttery syrup.

I hope this guide provides some new ideas on where to fill up for the most important meal of the day! Leave a comment down below with your favorite breakfast place and your go-to order!

Happy Brunchin’!
